What happens if a transfer fails?

It returns to your balance automatically, with the reason recorded so you can correct and retry.

Failed transfers return to your balance automatically. The reason is recorded against the transaction, so you can correct the detail and retry without raising a ticket.

The common causes

  • The destination account is closed or dormant.
  • The account number and account name do not match.
  • The destination institution is temporarily unavailable.

Retrying safely

Correct the detail on the recipient record rather than on the individual transaction. That way the fix applies to every future payment to that person instead of just this one.
